All students will be assessed based on their performance of:

SCALES FOR WINDS/BRASS |
NOTICE: Adjudicators may ask musicians to play the scales faster, slower, staccato, and/or legato. Winds/Brass: Scales are to be played evenly and smoothly in a 16th note pattern at a minimum metronome speed of quarter = 72. |

PICCOLO | Please prepare a short solo/etude and the excerpt. No scales needed. |

PERCUSSION | Only one solo required (either on snare, timpani, or mallets). Musicians need to prepare the 2 orchestral excerpts for the instruments which they have not prepared the solo for. Demonstrate familiarity with timpani tuning, and demonstrate ability on bass drum and cymbals if asked. |
* Students may audition with material exceeding the minimum requirements, although it is recommended that students only perform music that highlights their best technical and musical ability. No accompanist required. “Difficulty level” refers to the difficulty ranging from Grades 1 (easy) through 6 (most advanced). Please consult a school or private teacher for more info.
