The Olivia Warley Gutoff Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2020, the Olivia Warley Gutoff Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a senior with outstanding talent on an orchestral instrument pursuing a college degree in music. The awardees must have participated in MCYO at least two consecutive years and must be intending to pursue a career in music with a priority for those majoring in music education. Winners are selected based on a variety of criteria including academic performance, an audition before a committee, and an essay/interview.

Olivia Gutoff, Former Artistic Director of MCYO, was a passionate music educator who inspired and made a difference in thousands of students’ lives throughout her career. She had a passion to teach and to make a difference in students’ lives whether they were pursuing a music career or not. The Olivia Warley Gutoff Memorial Scholarship is meant to support a young educator who wants to make a difference in people’s lives and who wants to pay forward the gift of music to others. Chester J. Petranek Scholarship

Established in 1996, the Chester J. Petranek College Scholarship is awarded annually to a senior with outstanding talent on an orchestral instrument, with the exception of piano. The awardees must have participated in MCYO at least two consecutive years and must be intending to pursue a career in music. Winners are selected based on a variety of criteria including academic performance, financial need, an audition before a committee and an interview. The past winners are:
